Day 6 of 60 Days Blogging Challenge: Go Social Part 1

Hello Spiders,

I hope you all had a great weekend. Finally, it’s Day 6 of our Blogging Challenge. Previously I showed all of you a tour of my newly created blog.

Now after designing and customizing the UI of your Blog, now it’s time to socialize your blog.

Social media marketing plays an important role in increasing traffic to your website. It’s just creating awareness of your website to people through available social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest etc.

In the past, we didn’t have these social media platforms so we were totally depended on traffic from search engine but today as a Blogger it is very important to have social media profiles. A large percentage of your blog traffic comes from these platforms. They play a very crucial role in the success of your blog by making it very easy to reach a large community of interested peoples.

Now we will move towards the steps involved in the setup of social media pages of your blog –

  1. Facebook Page
We will start with one of the famous social networking sites i.e. Facebook
If you don’t want to use Facebook for your blog, you might want to reconsider your decision as you will miss a large section of social media users. You can use Facebook to not only promote your blog but also for connecting with other bloggers and form a social circle.
Follow these steps to create a page-

    • Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php.
    • Select your page type. For our blog we will click on Brand or Product in the upper right box. A category drop down will get opened.
    • Choose the category Website
    • Type the name of your blog in the Category dropdown box, check the box to agree to Facebook’s  TOS, and click Get Started.
    • After that you will be asked to Add a profile picture. Do it and proceed.

    • Then upload your cover photo.
    • You’re all done.

After that customize your page setting according to your blog by going to About menu in the left hand side of the admin panel of the page.

After everything done invite your friends to like your page and start promoting it.

Now you’re all done for the facebook.

  1. LinkedIn Page
With nearly 500 million users worldwide it is one of the growing businesses networking site.
Create a LinkedIn company page for your blog.
    To create a Company Page:

      • Click the Work icon   in the top right corner of your LinkedIn homepage.
      • Click Create a Company Page.
      • Enter your Blog Name and choose a URL.
      • Check the verification box to confirm you have the right to act on behalf of that company in the creation of the page.
      • Click the Create page.
      • Click get started and start editing your page on the welcome screen.
  2. Instagram Account
Don’t forget about Instagram. It is highly engaging than other social platforms. If I wanted to promote my blog with only two social media accounts only. I would have chosen facebook and Instagram as the only weapons.More than 800 million users are now on Instagram. Their algorithm and interface make engagement with people very easy.Open your Instagram account for your blog and switch to a business account. It will connect your account with the facebook page you created at the first.A business account will give you several benefits like providing detailed insights of your post and stories. You can also track which time and day works best for your account for gaining more likes and followers. Later on, we will teach you how to set up ads for gaining the targeted audience for your blog.
  3. Pinterest:
Pinterest has over 200 million active users with 2 Billion searches queries per month. That level of activity makes it a search engine in its own form. Pinterest posts always appear high in Google search results, so using Pinterest power for gaining traffic will help your audience to grow fast. Switch to business profile on Pinterest for getting additional features than normal account.

After opening all the social media accounts, it’s time to display them on your blog. Make sure to display all the links in the sidebar, in about us page, and in the footer. These are the most prominent places where the readers notice your social media handles.

Consider using a plugin named Simple Social Icons. After installing this plugin, you will be able to use this in the appearance -> widgets section. From there you can add them to the sidebar and the footer elements if your theme allows.

So this was all for today. We will come back tomorrow laying down more contents for making your blog better.
