Baby Steps – Setting up a Blog in WordPress easily
Step 1: Choosing and Buying a Domain Name
You need to choose a domain name which is related to the keywords which you have selected on DAY 1.
Now there are certain points which need to be kept in mind while choosing one:
- The domain name should reflect the keywords and content of the blog.
- It should be short and sweet enough to be easily remembered.
- Avoid using hyphen ‘-‘ or dot’.’ or any special symbols other than characters in your domain name.
- Try getting a ‘.com’ domain as it is the most easily remembered by the people.
Consider using a famous domain registrar like Namecheap or Godaddy. They are the best among the whole lot. A new domain will cost you around 10$ a year. They also have a privacy protection plan which protects your private information like phone number and address being spammed by sales people. This will cost a couple of dollars extra but the protection is worth the price.
As we said earlier we chose to write on something related to tea. So we chose to go with the domain name “teaaddicted.com”. We bought this from Godaddy.
To know more about domain name and how it works read this article “All you need to know about Domain Name” .
Step 2: Buying a Hosting Provider Service
After you buy a domain, you will need to buy a hosting service to store your website files.
A server is required for storing files so that other people can access it seamlessly when they try to access it using your domain name.
There are a whole lot of hosting service available, which makes it hard to go through them all and chose the best one. Don’t worry we have done the research for you. We would recommend you to go with A2Hosting Service. They have the best plans separated for personal and business websites. Their servers are Blazing Fast and they have inbuilt one-click WordPress install facility too. Weboftwo is hosted on A2Hosting Service and we are quite impressed by their customer support and awesome service.
Consider choosing a shared hosting plan suited to your needs which will be as cheap as 50$ a year.
Step 3: Pointing Domain To Hosting
Now you have a domain name and a hosting service. Now you need to point the domain name towards the hosting so that whenever people type or visit your website’s link, they will be able to access and browse the pages of your website automatically.
It’s a very easy process. You just need to update the Domain Name Server ( DNS ) of the domain.
